Citycell users suffer for poor services

DHAKA: The users of Citycell, the only Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) mobile-phone operator in the country, are suffering a lot due to several incidents of network collapse, server problem and poor customer care services.

The allegations came from different schools and businessmen over poor network in both cell-phones and internet services provided by Pacific Bangladesh Telecom Ltd owned by Citycell.

M Al Amin, a businessman, alleged that he is using the mobile-phone operator for business purpose but from Friday the phone number totally disabled in incoming and outgoing call, including other operations.

While talking about sufferings, he said, “As a regular customer I have no due in billing with Citycell and I pay Tk 12,000 to 15,000 per month for the service. So, why will they shut my operation? It hampers my business.”

“I had communicated with their customer care and they said it’s a problem of server as some development works are underway and the problem will be solved automatically. However, they didn’t mention a date or time,” he added.

Like Al Amin, scores of allegations also brought by Citycell customers, using mobile network and internet packages for the poor services.

When contacted with Citycell CEO, Mehbub Chowdhury, he said, “We solved the server problem within 4:00pm on Friday.”

However, customers didn’t find their phone active by the stipulated time.
