CHANGI AIRPORT, SINGAPORE: High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Singapore Mahbub Uz Zaman categorically said that there is a vast opportunity of trade with Singapore.
“Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore has been working in this regard,” he added.
The High Commissioner made the assertion in a brief interview to Banglanews at Changi airport of Singapore.
Mahbub Uz Zaman said, “As there is enough scope of investment in physical infrastructure, production sector, supply, service sector, IT sector, medical service, pharmaceutical industry, and tourism sector similarly the exportable goods like sea fish and vegetables of Bangladesh have vast demand in Singapore.”
At this moment a vast opportunity of expanding trade has been created between Bangladesh and Singapore and we must utilize this opportunity, he added.
Apart from maintaining constant touch with the Singapore government to improve bilateral relation, the Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore has also arranged seminars, meetings with the private entrepreneurs.
Through holding these interactions, Bangladesh has set up close relations with the business entrepreneurs of Singapore. It has also ensured the participation of Bangladeshi business community, the High Commissioner also said.
He again added: “So that the mutual relation between business communities of Bangladesh and Singapore has been improved with a view to expanding business.”
Mentioning trade between two countries amounts to 2.74 billion Singapore Dollar (SD), Mahbubuzzaman told that Bangladesh wants to minimize the trade deficit by expanding bilateral trade.
The easy communication by air and sea will help boost the trade between the two countries, he uttered.
Meanwhile understanding the potentialities of trade expansion, Bangladeshi private airliner United Airways has introduced air operation to Singapore with the existing Singapore airliners of Tiger airways and Singapore airways. Another private airliner of Bangladesh Regent Airways is also going to introduce air operation to Singapore within this month.
It needs good communication to utilize the potentialities, he told. Keeping this in mind, Tiger Airways is planning to increase the number of flights between the two countries.
