DHAKA: The Banglalink Grandmaster season-3 which was launched few months back has engaged enormous number of students around the around the country, with above 8000 registered students in a single competition to start something new through technological advancement—specifically, mobile internet based applications that can change people’s lives.
Grandmaster season-3 approaches its finale which has been announced for the 23rd of November, and out of initial more that than 500 teams the top 20 have survived who will compete one another for the final victory.
Leading up to it, they went through rigorous workshops and grooming to prepare for the big day where they will present their ideas to a panel of celebrity judges.
On the training day, our internal experts had given them a training, which we believe, had helped them to have broader knowledge in building a proper application. The training was held yesterday the 23rd October, 2013 at Brac Centre, Mohahali, Dhaka.
The winners will be chosen the same day. However, the judging will not only be up to the jury panel. Banglalink has involved the end users themselves in the competition.
The judging will be done in two phases, one by all the Banglalink fans on facebook through voting on the Banglalink facebook page, banglalinkmela, so they get a chance to voice their choice, and the jury panel will also take the public’s decision into account while making final judgment.
Present at the venue on the training day were participants; a number of Banglalink high officials and among the judges Dr Kaykobad, Professor-Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Professor Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, School of Business, North South University, Dr Sarwar Uddin Ahmed, Dean-School of Business, Independent University Bangladesh, Professor Mamun Rashid, Vice Chairman-Financial Excellence Ltd and Dr M Musa, Professor-United International University.
The participants are from diverse backgrounds such as business, engineering, textile, medicine etc. showing the reach that Banglalink has earned among the youth of the country.
The Grandmaster Champion will receive BDT 200,000.00, 1st Runners Up & 2nd Runners Up will receive BDT 150,000.00 & BDT 100,000.00 respectively.
The winners will also be taken to China to attend “Banglalink-Huawei International Youth Camp”- a 12 day long camp, where they will also attend workshops and receive hands-on training from the experts at Huawei Technologies Ltd. In addition, the students will visit the manufacturing plants of Huawei during the trip. Feasible projects will be taken into account for execution as applications.
