DHAKA: Emirates airline expansion reached new heights on February 10 with the start daily non-stop flight to Taiwan’s capital city.
This will be first non-stop connection between Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport and Middle East.
The airlines made the announcement at a press conference held in Taipei recently.
Emirates will fly a Boeing 777-300ER on the Taipei route, equipped with eight luxurious private suites in First Class, 42 lie-flat seats in Business Class, and generous space for 304 passengers in Economy Class.
Edwin Lau, Emirates’ Vice President, Hong Kong and Taiwan, said “The partnership between Emirates and Taipei goes back to 2003 when our cargo arm, Emirates Skycargo, launched a dedicated freighter service between the two cities.”
The high official said, “Given Taipei’s status as an international trading hub and the demand that we have been getting, it is a natural progression for the airline to launch passenger services here.”
Sheng Chih Wei, the Executive Vice President of the Taoyuan International Airport Corporation, said, “Emirates will become the first airline to operate a non-stop route to the Middle East from Taoyuan International Airport. We believe the launch of this new route will offer our passengers with a more connected network.”
The Emirates will begin 2014 with the launch of services to Kiev, followed by Taipei and Boston on 10th March.
The Emirates now operates services to 138 destinations in 78 countries from Dubai.
