DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Monday said the GDP growth for the current fiscal (2013-14) will be over 6.3 percent.
The finance minister told journalists after a meeting with chairmen and managing directors of banks and financial institutions at his secretariat office.
He said, “The real GDP growth will no way be less than 6.3 percent in the current fiscal year as we set 7.2 percent growth target in the budget which was a little bit ambitious.”
The finance minister said the government is revising the base of the budget for the fiscal 2013-14. When his attention was drawn to the World Bank`s 5.7 percent GDP growth in FY2013-14, Muhith said the WB and IMF always make a conservative forecast about the GDP.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman and chiefs of Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) and Microcredit Regulatory Authority were present at the meeting.
