Govt appoints consultants

DHAKA: Ministry of Communication has signed an agreement with consultancy firms for the project of the third Shitalakshya bridge construction.

The contract was signed at the ministry Sunday.

Chief engineer of Bridge Division Aminur Rahman Lashkar and Consultancy firm’s ASM Matin signed the contract on behalf of the respective sides.

SARAM Association Limited of Bangladesh, Omar Munsi Associations of Pakistan and Al Muhaddis Consulting Engineer of Saudi Arabia were jointly appointed as consultant for the project.

Communication minister Obaidul Quader was present at the signing ceremony.

The bridge with a length of 1.298 kilometers (12980 meters) is expected to build at a cost of Tk 377.63 crore.

The firm will start their primary work from next month and the construction of the mail structure of the bridge after six months.

This four-lane bridge on Shitakshya, to be financed by Saudi and Bangladesh governments, will be build at Madanganj and Syedpur crossing in Narayanganj.
