DHAKA: Planning Minister AHM Mostofa Kamal has informed that the per capita income of the people of Bangladesh will be $ 2100 in 2021 if the long term plan of the government is implemented.
The Minister told this while addressing a view exchange meeting with the businesses on Thursday held at FBCCI building organized by FBCCI.
The planning Minister said that viewing the golden jubilee of our liberation the government has drawn the plan ‘Bangladesh Perspective Planning’. It has been mentioned there that the per capita income will reach $ 2100 in 2021.
Besides, if other various plans can be implemented then there will be no poor in the country in 2030. The minister also hoped that at the time each will income 2 dollars minimum per day and they will be in a position to take 1160 calorie food each every day.
In the meeting the minister highlighted the various successes of the present government and further added that in 2041 Bangladesh could be compared with the developed countries.
At this time the minister heard from the businessmen about their suggestions and assured them of executing those phase by phase.
He further suggested placing those various plans to FBCCI. He told them not solely depend on the government but to come forward the individuals for implementing the future planning. He advised them for making profit the individual can also invest.
Regarding enhancing the investment of the government in sixth five plan the minister informed that in 2005-06 fiscal the development budget was Tk 24,500 crore which climbed to Tk 65800 crore in 2013-14 fiscal being the biggest investment of the government so far.
FBCCI president Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed informed the meeting that in 1973 Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for first time here drew up the first five year plan and the sixth one is the continuation of that.
He said that individual, society cannot run without plan so it is necessary to take business friendly plan and urged upon the government to ensure business friendly, human friendly and humanity friendly plan.
With Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed in the chair, the programme was also addressed, among others, by Planning Secretary Bhuiayn Shafiqul Islam and Hedayetullah Al Mamun.
