DHAKA: National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Ghulam Hussain categorically said that the revised budget of current fiscal year was targeted Tk 125,000 crore.
He was addressing a press conference of NBR ofice in Segun Bagicha of the city on Thursday morning.
NBR Chairman said that the target of ongoing budget was Tk 136,090 crore but reducing the revised budget was fixed Tk 125,000 crore.
Ghulam Hussain said, “We hinted the government about the matter before budget preparation. Because of the political unrest tax payers kept aloof themselves from paying tax, that’s why we suggested the newly elected government to reduce budget target”.
He further said that the economy is better now. If it continues then within three months the fiscal deficit will be removed.
Meanwhile, the NBR Chairman said that taxes will be increased on tobacco related products.
