DHAKA: Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain Wednesday said Oman showed their keen interest to take skilled manpower from Bangladesh.
He made the disclosure while talking to journalists after an hour-long meeting with a high-level delegation of Oman at Expatriates’ Welfare Ministry.
The minister also claimed some 70,000 workers shifted their job without informing the authorities.
Two countries reached in a consensus to form a joint probe committee in this connection, he added.
Minister also informed that there are 500,000 Bangladeshi workers currently working in Oman.
Mosharraf said, “We expect that the expenditure to go to Middle East countries will be reduced to Tk 20,000-25,000.”
