Tk 100cr demanded as compensation

DHAKA: A legal notice was issued to the Bangla daily Jugantor demanding Tk 100 crore as compensation and seeking apology for defamation and publishing false news against Petrobangla Chairman Professor Dr M Hossain Mansur.

On behalf of Petrobangla Chairman, his lawyer Barrister Ashraf Uddin Bhuiyan sent a legal notice to Jugantor Acting Editor Saiful Alam, Publisher Salma Islam MP, Chairman and Managing Director of Jamuna Printing and Publishing by post.

On November 27, 28 and December 1-4 and 12, some seven reports published in the daily against the Chairman of Petrobangla blaming him corrupt.

The notice also focused that, in last December, Dr M Hossain Mansur sent three letters to prevent publishing the fake reports but they didn’t pay any heed in this regard.

The Jugantor authorities must take an initiative within three days after getting the notice in their hands. Otherwise, legal actions will be taken against them, the notice stated.
