SAVAR, DHAKA: Workers of Adorn Knitwear Limited staged demonstration and laid a siege to the factory at Chowrongi Super Market of Savar Bazar, on outskirt of capital Dhaka, Sunday morning demanding payment of the due wages.
Protesters and Industrial Police sources said workers came to the factory to join the work in the morning as usual and found the factory’s main entrance locked. Then they began demonstration as their wages for couple of months remained unpaid.
At one stage, angry workers encircled factory owner Jubaer Ahmed’s house at Katlapur Mohalla of Savar Pourashava.
On information, police rushed in, dispersed the workers and brought the situation under control.
The factory authorities could not be contacted despite several attempts.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Industrial Police director Monstafizur Rahman said “Workers of Adorn Knitwear Limited observed work abstention and protest programme demanding payment of their dues for three months.”
“Additional police were deployed in the factory area to avoid any untoward station,” he added.
