DHAKA: The customers of Standard Chartered (StanChart) bank have raised allegations of sufferings against the bank.

The sufferers have told that it misbehaves with the customers as well as the bank also have trimmed lowered socially. So they have termed the bank as the ‘Killer Bank’.
 
There are numerous allegations against the bank officials who do not spare a man who though is an established one in the society.
One Abdullah Al Farooq, a former high official of Bangladesh Biman having 30 years of professional experiences has acquired a bitter experience about StanChart bank.
 
Abdullah Farooq narrated his odd experience at the bank terming it a ‘Killer Bank’. This bank makes a man sick and pushes towards even committing suicide.
 
He told Banglanews that this bank acts as a slow poison for killing someone. He told that it is he who once took loan or purchased credit card know what sufferings the banks gives as a ‘gift’. He called upon the customers to raise their voice against the misdealing of the bank and sufferings it entails to the customers.
 
It is learnt from the concerned sources, that this customer Abdullah Al Farooq digested much sufferings and finally reached the Governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) for relief.
 
He applied to the CEO of StanChart for solving his problem. But he did not get any relief. So as the last resort he has approached the BB governor Dr. Atiur Rahman with a copy to the CEO of StanChart bank for solving his problem.
 
He told that he (Abdullah) took a loan of Taka 10 lakh in January of 2012 against his salary. But he was sacked from Biman in the November of the same year without any financial benefit.
 
The sources informed that the person concerned communicated the CEO of StanChart about the matter in December. The CEO instructed him to contact the branch manager. Accordingly Abdullah Al Farooq informed the branch manager in writing.
 
The allegation of Farooq said that he had been repaying the installments of loan and meanwhile he repaid Taka 6.50 lakh. Due to financial stringency he could not repay the loan installments in time. For this reason the call center of the bank started disturbing him amounting to mental torture.
 
The sufferings did not end there. If they got his mobile phone off they started disturbing his wife. They went on so far they even went to his residence to give threat. This caused Abdullah sick. He even thought of committing suicide.
 
The source told that Abdullah came to know that he has to repay more Taka 8 lakh. In all he will has to pay Taka 14.50 lakh in two years. So Abdullah has termed this bank as ‘blood sucker’.
 
The source further informed that this loaner had requested the bank authority to supply his bank statement but the bank refused to give it. The official said in reply that he will be not given any copy of bank statement. He wanted to know actually that how he owed Taka 8 lakh to the bank. When contacted the StanChart concerned authority nothing was received from the bank end.
 
Not only Abdullah many more persons are becoming the victims of sufferings caused by this bank. They are being humiliated in their family life. So the sufferers have urged upon the government to look into the highhandedness of StanChart bank.
