DHAKA: Airtel, one of the mobile phone operating companies in Bangladesh, is providing nothing but razzle-dazzle, ‘close but no cigar’ in the name of service to the consumers.
The company has sold a large number of SIM cards across the country without setting up a network of its own. Moreover, Airtel is juggling with its customers in the name of availing 3G internet service.
On the other hand, the Indian company is trying to impose all their liabilities to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
According to the latest BTRC report, the company is serving a number of more than 8.4 million customers.
However, the consumers blamed that Airtel is cheating with its customers especially with the younger generation of the country.
They claimed that the company has promised to provide numerous services such as lower call rate, welcome tune, songs and videos but in reality, the promises are a cock and bull story.
There can be a long list of complaints from the customers against Airtel. The top listed complaints include tricky offers, poor networks and unclear voice flow.
A student of Government Titumir College, Saif claimed that a call often does not reach to the destination and shows the number switched off though it is switched on and near to his phone.
He also said we were attracted and trapped on Airtel’s so called cheap call-rates but actually disappointed on its service.
Another Airtel customer, Rafiul, a Jigatala resident in city told banglanews that Airtel is ‘well-known’ for its poor networking system. He also upheld his experiences of disconnection for several times to his important calls under this network.
The phone-line disconnects from two to three times in a small duration of chat with friends, he added.
Another Airtel user, Zaman, a Nilkhet resident said that Airtel network plays a hide and seek game in city which is tolerable but it is almost dead outside Dhaka and in remote areas.
Azad of Baridhara said that calling to a different operator and having connected with it is a matter of fate for the Airtel customers.
Shahid from Badda area commented that Airtel is struggling with 2G services so providing the 3G service is a funny matter.
Many customers of Airtel found the mobile operating company’s offers as strange and illogical.
Moreover, the Facebook fan page of the company is full of complaints by the customers.
Some commented that the pre-paid card recharge was not successful. Some complained on poor network, even some showed their attempts to boycott Airtel.
A Dhaka University student claimed that Airtel’s network is not up to the mark. The network problem should be fixed in the campus area.
Raskin Dewan, also an Airtel user, complained that the company had taken out all of the balances from his mobile phone without providing any service.
The Airtel customers in the country are annoyed with their poor service and recommended the company to go back to India with bag and baggage.
Earlier in 2010, India’s one of the giant mobile phone operating companies, Airtel started business in Bangladesh by purchasing 70 percent share of Warid Telecom.
