DHAKA: The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) on Sunday demanded the opportunity to turn the black money into white money be scraped in the upcoming budget.
The CPD came up with the plea at a press conference on ‘recommendations for the National Budget FY2014-15’ at BRAC Center Inn in Mohakhali of the city.
CPD distinguished fellow Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya strongly opposed any type of financial privilege from the government for illegal income and to make the black money white.
Dr Debapriya said CPD stands against the matter as it does every year. Those give logic to bring the illegal money in mainstream, their logics are not acceptable in the economy, he claimed.
In reality, no visible improvement was made even after giving the opportunity to turn the black money into white money rather a culture of law violation and tax evasion has been created, the newsmen were told.
CPD research director Dr Fahmida Akter Khatun preset the budget research report while executive director Dr Mustafizur Rahman, additional research director Dr Khandaker Golam Moazzem and research fellow Taufiqul Islam Khan were among others present at the press meet.
