DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday said that the board of director of Basic Bank Limited would be reformed soon.

The finance minister made the assertion while talking to journalists at secretariat after Bangladesh Bank recommended scrapping the board of directors of the bank on Thursday.

Earlier in the day Bangladesh Bank (BB) recommended scrapping the Board of Directors (BoD) of Basic Bank Limited on charge of massive irregularities.

The central bank governor Dr Atiur Rahman issued a letter to secretary of Banking and Financial Division in this regard.

A copy of the letter also was sent to Finance Minister AMA Muhith.

Assistant General of the central bank AFM Asaduzzaman made the disclosure on Thursday.
