DHAKA: Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Takehiko Nakao asserted that ADB would give aid to modernize Madrasha education system so that it could participate to advance socio-economic system of the country joining with mainstream education system.
He made the assertion when called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at in her office on Sunday morning.
Nakao also said ADB would continue their aid for infrastructure development of Bangladesh and disaster management sector.
Praising the growth rate remaining up to six point and continuous inflation control, he said it is flourishing the economy of Bangladesh.
Addressing education as the main tools to remove poverty Nakao said they would aid to eradicate militancy from madrashas.
If madrasha education system is modernized it could participate to advance socio-economic system of the country, he added.
Nakao also praised about education system of Bangladesh and said technical education system mitigates some unemployment problem.
Hasina said, “In recent year dependency of foreign aid growing lower and prime minister, cabinet members, MPs and government officers are included into the VAT system.
Giving importance on agricultural sector, PM said it also helping to reduce unemployment.
PM’s Press Secretary Shamim Chowdhury, Ambassador at large M Ziauddin, Chief Secretary Abdus Sobhan Shikdar and Secretary of Economic Relation Department M Mezbah Uddinm were present in the meeting.
