DHAKA: The first conference of Bangladesh Economics Forum (BEF) is underway for second day from Sunday morning with a view to provide a broad framework for the country’s economic policy and strategy to help build a pluralistic democracy.
Slogan of the first conference is ‘Vision 2030: Framework for Economic Policy Making and Strategy Formulation in a Pluralistic Democracy.’
The program started from 9:00am at the ballroom and celebration hall of Hotel Radisson blue in city where articles will be presented in four sessions.
Bangladesh Economic Forum, Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), Policy Research Institute (PRI) and Bangladesh Bank are jointly organizing the conference in cooperation with HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank and Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB).
Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury will address on agricultural development issue as a chief guest in the second day programme.
Economist Mahbub Hossain, Adus Sattar Mandal, Samsul Alam and Kazi Sahabuddin also will discuss over the matter.
Besides, Prime Minister’s Political Advisor Hussain Taufiq Imam as a chief guest will address on public policy as chief guest.
And Dr Gowhar Rizvi, BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Mahiuddin Alamgir, Former adviser of caretaker government Dr Akbar Ali Khan will be the discussants in the issue.
California University professor Azizur Rahman Khan will address on poverty and social barriers as chief guest at Festival Hall of the venue.
