DHAKA: The Privatization Commission has decided to sell off 12 state-owned enterprises under the Jute and Textiles Ministry, competent sources said.
They said the proposal has been sent to the cabinet committee on economic affairs for final approval for the denationalization.
Put on the list of offloading are Kaderia Textile Mills, Sylhet Textiles, Darwani Textiles, Kurigram Textile, Bhaluka Woolen Mills, Ahmed Bawani and Chittaranjan Cotton Mills under BTMC, Baghdad-Dhaka Carpet Factory, Kawmi Jute Mills and Daulatpur Jute Mills under BJMC, Dying and Printing unit of Chandanaish under Bangladesh Handloom Board and Service and Facilities Center of Brahmanbaria.
Chairman of the Privatization Commission Dr. Mirza Jalil told banglanews24.com.bd that, according to the privatization policy, the government would leave more industrial units to private sector gradually.
“It will increase revenue collection if all the loss-incurring industries are given for privatization,” he said.
