DHAKA: The government has decided to import onion from Myanmar and Turkey due to rise of its price in internal market of India.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, in a meeting about stock of daily necessary products and their prices before the holy Ramadan, revealed the matter to journalists at secretariat on Wednesday.
The ruling lawmaker also told the journalists that the price of the of onion price in India have increased a few days ago which has started to affect the price in Bangladesh also.
This is why, we will import onion from Myanmar and Turkey through TCB, he added.
Senior secretary of Commerce Ministry Mahbub Ahmed and other high ups of TCB and EPB, among others, also were present in the program.
