DHAKA: The government on Wednesday asked the deputy commissioner (DC) to monitor the market for keeping the prices of daily essentials under the people’s purchasing power.
Besides, the field administration was also asked to supervise the prices keeping it tolerable throughout the year.
The ministry of commerce issued the order in the noon after commerce minister Tofail Ahmed held a meeting with the DCs at the secretariat in the city at the second day of the three-day DCs conference.
After the meeting, Tofail said, “The DCs are implementing the government agenda they convey the government’s development and success to the filed level.”
He added: “Now the Ramadan month is going on, we asked the DC to monitor the price of daily essentials keeping it tolerable throughout the year including Ramadan month.”
The ministry has also taken some other steps related to the price monitoring, sources of the meeting said.
