DHAKA: The Cabinet committee for public purchases Thursday approved the setting up of two picking plants with the capacity of 50MW each.
It also decided to buy one-lakh metric tonnes of wheat and 30 thousand metric tonnes of boiled rice.
The approval was given in a meeting of the cabinet committee held in the cabinet conference room with Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith in the chair.
Following the meeting, Md Abdul Karim, Joint Secretary of the cabinet division, in a briefing told journalists that the two power-generation plants approved under purview of government sector 820MW picking power plants.
The furnace oil-based two plants will be set up at Santahar and Katakhali.
The plant at Santahar in Bogra will be established at an expense of Tk 329.94 crore while the plant of Katakhali in Rajshahi will cost Tk 311 crore and 86.84 lakh.
“Chinese company Dongfang Electric Corporation got the works,” said Abdul Karim.
The purchase committee also decided the purchase of one-lakh metric tonnes of wheat from two firms through international tender.
Honeybee Private Limited will provide 50 thousand metric tonnes for US $ 245.35 per metric tonne and S Alam Trading Company will supply 50 thousand metric tonnes for US $ 221.35 per metric tonne.
The government also will buy 30 thousand metric tonnes of boiled rice at US $467.92 per metric tonne, the meeting decided
