CHITTAGONG: The loading and unloading of goods at the outer anchorage of Chittagong sea port disrupted due to heavy downpour from Saturday morning.
Sources concerned said that the unloading from mother vessels were completely stopped for continues rainfall since Friday but Lighterage ships were trying to start unloading process from Saturday morning.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoist local cautionary signal number three, said a warning message issued by Met office.
Some 36 mother vessels remained anchored with various types of goods including wheat, fertilizer, sugar and cement clinker.
Chittagong Port Director (transport) Sarwar Alam told banglanews that some 17 ships are waiting at outer anchorage for unloading and the work will start after sea becomes normal.
Port sources said that container unloading process is underway normally from 14 container laden ships at jetty.
