DHAKA: A mobile court on Tuesday fined Agora, one of the leading chain shops in the country, for selling unapproved products.
Led by Executive Magistrate Mamtaj Begum a team of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute (BSTI) with the help of police conducted the drive in an outlet of Agora in city’s Siddheswari area.
BSTI sources said the team found foreign products without approval and certificate of BSTI during the anti-adulteration raid in the outlet.
The super shop was fined Tk 50,000 under BSTI Ordinance 1985, Pure Food Ordinance 1959 and The Bangladesh Pure Food Amendment Act 2005.
BSTI assistant director, M Riazul Haque, confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Earlier on Monday, another local chain shop, Almas, was fined Tk 100,000.
