AKHAURA, BRAHMANBARIA: All preparation has been taken to export the fuel coil firewood to the seven hilly states of India through the Akhaura land port.
The clearing and forwarding (C&F) agents and importers-exporters of the port have already finished their preparation in this regard.
Export traders hoped that export would begin by September upon the fixing of price, which would double the export income.
Port sources said, C&F trading enterprise Razib Traders submitted an application to the assistant commissioner of Akhaura Customs Station for fixing the price.
Razib Traders proprietor Abbas Bhuyan told banglanews, “Price of firewood at local market of Bangladesh is 20 dollars per ton while the export price will be at 30 dollars.”
“If we get permission we will export 30 tones at the primary stage as Indian traders have expressed their eagerness to buy the coil firewood.”
Akhaura land port C&F Agents Associations general secretary M Monir Hossain told banglanews, “For the first time ever, this coil firewood are going to be export from Bangladesh, its will double the export income (of the port),”
Confirming the matter of application, Akhaura land port assistant commissioner (customs) Nitish Bishwash told banglanews, “We are scrutinizing it,”
Over 50 goods and products are exported to India through Akhaura port, the second largest land port of the country.
