Maximum automation in tax fair

DHAKA: Only one percent of the total population of the country pays income tax. Annually direct or indirect taxes contribute nearly 39 percent in total revenue income. Many income-tax payable people do not pay tax.
   
So the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has hosted the national tax fair since 2008 to motivate people to pay income tax.

Income Tax wing of NBR is going to host the income tax fair this year from September 16 at Dhaka Officers’ Club.

The fair will be held in all divisional cities for 7-days and district headquarters of the country for four days.

The fair will remain open for visitors from 10am to 6pm. The visitors would be offered to get the electronic TIN registration instantly.

The NBR offices across the country have already been asked to take preparation for holding the event in September 16-22.

SmartQ

NBR is going to use SmartQ for managing the citizen's visit at the "Income Tax Fair". The system had given token to the citizens who l come to this fair for tax related services. The token routed to different tax officials for serving and the numbers had displayed at the central display.

The system had given report to the management to the visitors. This is the first kind of technology displayed in that kind fair.

Automated Tax Calculator
Two software-- “Automated Tax Calculator” and Income Tax Submission preparation—will help taxpayers and receivers to calculate taxable income tax.  The services have to be created willingness among the new taxpayers to pay tax.

This type of initiative is very important for increasing revenue of the government.

e-TIN
During the last income tax fair, electronic tax identification number (e-TIN) was the main attraction, but the taxpayers had to suffer from several problems including surveyor difficulties and, mistake corrections.

This year, the numbers of computers has been increased and use of method has been made easier than that of the previous year.

In last fiscal, a total of 132,017 tax returns were submitted. The authorities concerned have taken measures to increase the number by double or triple.

NBR launched the e-TIN method last year.

Separate booths will be set up at fair for Bangladeshi taxpayers living in abroad.

Booth for tax regions

At the fair, taxpayers face problems to find their respective regions. To solve this problem, each region will have separate booth to collect the tax.

Jurisdiction Finder

Using the Jurisdiction Finder software, a taxpayer can easily know under which tax regions he/she lives, where he/she will submit the tax return and pay tax.

The booth, installed with the software, will be set up at the entrance of the fair.

Status display
Using status display, one will know about the tax payment, tax return submission, e-TIN registration and re-registration and certificate receiving.

Paying sticker

This sticker will inform the taxpayer’s acknowledgement of tax return submission and payments.

Electronic payment

Taxpayers can pay tax using electronic payment (e-payment) system at several booths at the fair.
   
Besides, different digital services will also be available at the fair.

NBR member (tax service and management) Choudhury Amir Hossian told banglanews, the maximum automation service will be provided at the fair, no tax payer will be deprived of NBR’s service there.

He, however, denied disclosing details on the fair.
