DHAKA: Some organizations are selling gas of other companies using the cylinders of Bashundhara LP Gas, a sister concern of leading business conglomerate of the country Bashundhara Group.
Bashundhara LP Gas authorities seized a pick-up van full of gas-filled cylinders and held the pick-up driver and his assistant from Norda area in city on Saturday noon.
The authorities told banglanews, acting on a tip-off, they seized the pick-up with 60 gas-filled and 20 empty cylinders of the Bashundhara LP Gas.
Documents showed that the gas-filled cylinders were provided by the M/S Quamrul Enterprise of Gazipur.
Bashundhara LP Gas authorities also confirmed that they do not have any dealer in the area.
A gang has been conducting the business illegally for long. They have been filling the 12-kg cylinders of Bashundhara LP Gas with 8-10 kg gas and selling them in Tk 1,200 whereas the price of every cylinder of Bashundhara LP Gas is Tk 1,400, they added.
Authorities also said that a vested quarter is doing this to tarnish the reputation of Bashundhara LP Gas.
Legal actions would be taken against those involved with the incident, authorities added.
There were allegations against Monir of Meghna Ghat, Shahid Mia of Boidder Bazar in Narayanganj, Masum Enterprise of Araihazar, Abdullah of Gauchhia for such incidents in the past.
However, the engineering department of Bashundhara LP Gas told banglanews that sever accident can take place due to this kind of cross filling.
