DHAKA: Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) believed that the target of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the current fiscal year 2014-15 budget is achievable.
ICAB chairman Abbas Uddin made the observation in a press conference on ‘SAFA International Conference-2014’ to be held on Tuesday in Bangabandhu International Conference Center.
Abbas uddin, on Monday, said the GDP target would be achieved through proper planning and implementation.
In this sector, chartered accountants can play a vital role to achieve the target as they can diminish corruption that will increase growth.
If the corruption decreases to 10 percent, the growth would increase to one percent, he observed.
In response to a query, he said GDP of Bangladesh depends on agricultural sector, remittance and industrial investment. So, corruption should be removed from those sectors, the newsmen were told.
