DHAKA: Khondokar M Iqbal, former managing director (MD) of the state-run Karmasangsthan Bank, joined the office of MD at BASIC Bank on Wednesday.
BASIC Bank’s Board of Directors appointed Iqbal with the permission of Bangladesh Bank recently.
Iqbal began his banking career joining in Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) as a Class-1 officer in 1981. He also served as a deputy-MD in state-owned Sonali Bank Limited.
The MD post at BASIC Bank remained vacant for four more months since the-then MD Kazi Faqurul Islam was removed from the post for his failure to prevent the bank’s loan irregularities.
