Red alert on borders to stop hide smuggling

BENAPOLE, JESSORE: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) issued red alert at Benapole and Putkhali frontiers to stop hide smuggling in the district on Monday.

The red alert was issued around 2:00pm.

BGB-26 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Jahangir Alam told banglanews that there was possibility that traffickers would try to smuggle sacrificial animal hides to India during Eid-ul-Ajha as it is easier to smuggle anything through these routes.

The red alert will remain active till further declaration, he added.

BGB-23 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Abdur Rahim was made the in-charge of Putkhali frontier in Benapole.

Commander Abdur Rahim also said that the red alert will be active minimum 15 days.
