FROM LALBAGH POSTA: The hides of the sacrificed animals for Eid-ul-Azha have started decomposing on the second day of the festival.

The hide traders warned that at least 40 percent hides will be damaged due to heavy heat, long queue in traveling routes as well as indiscipline centering the business.

The traders of country’s biggest hides collecting wholesale market Lalbagh Posta in city till now has collected 2 lakh pieces of hides from Monday afternoon.

The collection would be continued two more days, the traders said.

Retail trader organization Hide and Skin Retailer Merchant Association general secretary Lokman Mridha said they had collected between 60 and 70 lakh pieces of hide past year.

But Lokman feared that they could not be able to collect 3 lakh pieces this year.

They are purchasing the hide with Tk 100-110 for per sf which was fixed at Tk 70-75. Besides, the hides are also decomposing, he added.

Lokman feared that if the ternary owners do not give accurate money, the small businesspeople will face huge loss.
