DHAKA: An eight-member delegation led by Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu is set to leave for Geneva of Switzerland on Sunday night to join in the bi-annual Investment Summit titled World Investment Forum-2014.
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has organized the four-day long Investment Summit that will start on October 13.
Other members of the delegation are Executive Chairman of the Board of Investment Syed Abdus Samad, Additional secretary to Industries Ministry Parag, Joint Secretary Afroza Khan, Deputy Secretary M Fahimul Islam, Director of Foreign Ministry Begum Sanchita Haque and Deputy Director of the Board of Investment M Ariful Haque.
The stakeholders will discuss about predicaments and prospects of investment around the world. All the participant parties will highlight their countries and institutions’ future plan for bilateral and multilateral investments and assistances.
Besides, parliamentarians from 40 countries will share their experiences about initiatives taken to achieve the goals in Sustainable Development through private investment and structure of investment in a roundtable meeting ‘Investing in Sustainable Development’ on October 16.
Amu will talk about the initiatives adopted by the Bangladesh Government.
The minister also will hold meetings with the chiefs of various UN agencies in Geneva.
Bangladesh delegation is expected to return to Bangladesh on October 18.
