KHULNA: Chittagong Stock Exchange organized its 2nd road show on Internet Trading Service (ITS) in Khulna on Saturday to make Internet-based trading popular among local investors.
Investors in the CSE so far are reluctant to use the ITS for lack of knowledge of the services.
The ITS was introduced five-years ago.
In order to make it easier and popular across the country and among the non-resident Bangladeshis, similar shows will be arranged in other cities including Rajshai, Barisal and Comilla.
“We began the show in Sylhet and now holding it in Khulna as the region has bast economic potential,” said Fakhor Uddin Ali Ahmed, president of the CSE.
“Most of the people of this district are businessmen. The trading service will help them trade,” he added.
The CSE allowed 21 brokerage houses to offer the ITS out of a total member of 135. More than 250 investors have registered themselves for ITS in the CSE.
“Registered investors can trade from any place any time under the system and without going to brokerage house physically for trading," said Prof Dr. MA Mamun, CEO of the CSE.
The average log-in of ITS users is around 200 with average trade value at Tk 4.0-5.0 million every day.
We want to shift 20 per cent of the total investors to ITS in two years and 50 per cent in seven years, he added
The average trading value of CSE was Tk 660 million in 2009 that stood at Tk 420 million in 2008.
