DHAKA: Bangladesh is keen to sign regional treaties on rail and roads communications and youth charter with member countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
The authorities concerned have already taken decisions in principle on the matters at an inter-ministerial meeting of the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, sources of the meeting told banglanews.
The meeting focused the 18th SAARC Summit, which will be held at Nepalese capital city of Katmandu on November 26 to November 27. This year theme of the Summit is "Connectivity for Shared Prosperity".
At the meeting, opinions on bilateral treaty on rail communications were moved forwards. Some suggested that it would not be difficult to sign bilateral treaties, if multilateral treaties were signed first.
Those attended the meeting came to a consensus that treaty on rails should be signed in multilevel forum. Besides, they also agreed on signing treaties on the road communications for transportation of passengers and goods both and the youth charter.
