DHAKA: The parliamentary committee has recommended allocating industrial plots to women entrepreneurs on priority basis in Bangladesh Small & Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) industrial area.
They made the recommendation in the 8th meeting of Government Organization Committee in the Parliament on Thursday.
The committee sources said there are 10,338 industrial plots in 74 industrial towns across the country.
Among them, 4,104 plots are being used as productive industrial units.
The committee also recommended to immediate implementation of Balancing, Modernization, Rehabilitation and Expansion (BMRE) and new projects to make the Chhatak Cement Company Limited profitable.
They also gave reminder to transfer Hazaribagh Tannery units to make the river Buriganga pollution free.
Government Organization Committee member M Abdul Kuddus, M Habibor Rahman, Abdur Rauf and Advocate Navana Akhter, among others, were present in the meeting chaired by committee president Shawkat Ali.
Industries ministry secretary, BSCIC chairman and high officials of Parliament secretariat were also present at the meeting.
