DHAKA: Country’s second largest mobile operator Banglalink organized the “Fifth Bhoirob Nouka Baich Protijogita 2014” Saturday at the Syed Nazrul Islam Shetu, Bhoirob Bazar, Meghna River in Bhoirob.
This event is in line with Banglalink’s continued endeavor to support and promote boat racing, a part of our national identity.
Traditional boat race locally known as “Nouka Baich” is the sign of our culture and heritage for hundreds of years. This is an attempt to promote local culture and heritage.
Rivers are an integral part of Bangladesh's history, tradition, literature, culture and sports. Boat racing is one of our mainstream traditional activities which attracts and spreads excitement and passion among the mass.
This year this event is the fourth tournament of the Banglalink Boat Race Series 2014. This league has obviously created renewed hype to the rowers all over Bangladesh.
“Gang Shomity Bhoirob” is the proud organizer of this prestigious event while Banglalink is sponsoring this event for the 5th consecutive time.
Thousands of spectators from all segments of society gathered to enjoy the Boat Race.
After the end of the race, the prizes were distributed by renowned government and private sector personals.
Shaydullah Mia, president, Bhairab Awami league was present at the event as Chief Guest.
Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, Assistant District Commissioner, Kishorgonj; Police Super Md Anwar Hossen Khan, Gias Uddin, Upazilla Porishad Chairman, Asifuzzaman Khan, Regional Commercial Head, Mymensingh, Banglalink and Khandaker Ashik Iqbal, PR & Communication Senior Assistant Manager, Marketing, Banglalink were also present there as special guests.
The event was presided over by Alhaj Monsur Hossain Mon, President, Gang Somitee, Bhairab.
