SYLHET: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Friday said that the country’s inflation rate will decrease to less than seven percent in the current fiscal year (2014-15).
He also said that the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) will go beyond 6.2 percent, which was 6.01 percent in the last fiscal year, in the fiscal year 2014-15.
“GDP will increase in the current fiscal while inflation rate would be below seven per cent,” he said.
Minister made the remarks while talking to journalists at a program in Sylhet.
The last fiscal year (2013-14) ended with 7.35 percent inflation rate.
However, claiming that Bangladesh is considered as the ‘hero of the world’ abroad, the Finance Minister further said that it is only criticized in its own land.
Nevertheless, referring to data, Muhith said that the total investment of the country is 28 percent of GDP, but it is necessary to push it up to 32 percent to “get desired result.”
The Finance Minister came to Sylhet to attend a marriage function and left Osmani International Airport for Dhaka after talking to the journalists.
