DHAKA: The Danish ambassador Hanne Fugl Eskjær and IFC country manager Kyle F Kelhofer have recently signed an agreement aimed at bolstering renewable energy production and usage in Bangladesh.
IFC senior energy specialist Chandrasekar Govindarajalu was also present, among others, at the signing ceremony, said a press release.
At the ceremony, the Danish ambassador said, “on behalf of the Danish Government I am very pleased to sign this new agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC).”
“Green Growth is an important area in Denmark’s development cooperation strategy and Denmark looks forward to add value and transfer knowledge in renewable energy to Bangladesh.”
“To sustain the impressive economic growth for Bangladesh, the growing demand on energy requires shifting from traditional costly fuel sources to renewable sources such as biogas. I am hopeful that the partnership with IFC will result in expansion of such renewable energy production and usage,” the envoy added.
