SYLHET: Sylhet Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SMCCI) is going to organize a month-long international trade fair at Sadar upazila playground of the district from December 3.
SMCCI vice-president Hasin Ahmed made the disclosure at a press conference at its office at Saturday noon.
The fair, to be held following the rules of commerce ministry and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), will aim to encourage the local entrepreneurs.
Local and foreign companies will display their products at 160 stalls, 4 mega pavilions, 4 premier and 3 standard pavilions, the newsmen were told.
The organizers will also setup 3 foreign and 4 textile zones at the ground.
He said that close circuit cameras will cover the fairground to ensure widespread security to the visitors.
The entry ticket will be priced at Taka 10.
A raffle draw, with 101 prizes including a Tata Nano car as first prize, will also be arranged after the fair, to be open from 10:00am to 10:00pm from December 3.
According to the SMCCI vice-president, most of the stalls have already been booked. Besides, the local popular brands, several companies from Turkey, Thailand, India, Iran, China and Pakistan have assured the organizers in attending the fair.
SMCCI’s Afzal Rashid Chowdhury, Abdul Jabbar Jalil, Mawlana Khairul Hossain, Tahmin Ahmed, Hurayra Nuri Chowdhury, Sumerat Nuri Chowdhury, Mahidul Bari and Anup Kumar Deb, among others, were present at the conference.
