JESSORE: The three-day long ‘Agro-Inputs Retailers Network (AIRN) Agro Tech Fair 2014’, supported by the USAID Agro-Inputs Project (AIP) in Bangladesh, kicked off at the town hall premises of the district on Tuesday.
Additional Secretary of Agricultural Ministry Anwar Faruk inaugurated the fair at 10:30am.
USAID Agro-Inputs Project (AIP) Communications Director Aoarna Ghosh told banglanews that a seminar titled “Our Green Future: Environmentally Sound, Quality Agro-Inputs for Enhanced Food Production” will be held during the fair.
Seed, fertilizers and pesticides specialists from government and non-governmental developmental organisations will address the seminar.
The purpose of the AIRN Agro Tech Fair is to:
Display a number of environmentally sound technologies, services and agro-inputs that support enhanced agricultural, fishery, and animal husbandry productivity as presented by domestic and international companies, NGOs, Projects and other fair participants.
Exhibitions will include quality seed, fertilizers, crop protection products, aquaculture feed and technologies, animal husbandry feed and technologies, agro-tech machinery (planting, seeding, seed cleaning, tractors, threshers, sprayers, soil processing, tillage, sowing, harvesting, irrigation etc.), and state of the art ICT, cash transfer, and financing mechanisms.
Attract fair attendees such as domestic distributors, wholesalers, retailers, farmers, and other potential buyers of state-of-the-art, environmentally sound, high-quality products.
Promote innovation and development in quality seed, fertilizer, aquaculture and animal husbandry feed and technologies, agro-tech machinery; environmentally sound quality crop protection products, soil enhancers, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), as well as cash transfer, and financing mechanisms.
Encourage industry-wide learning about state-of-the-art products, resources, services and innovation to inform and improve agriculture, fisheries, and animal husbandry practices.
