Govt inks $60 mln pact with WB

DHAKA: The government has signed a loan agreement of 60 million US dollar with World Bank (WB) for modernizing and strengthening National Board of Revenue (NBR) to increase internal wealth of Bangladesh.

The deal signing ceremony was held at Planning Ministry conference room in Agargaon area of the city on Sunday afternoon.

Additional secretary Kazi Shafiqul Azam of economic relations division (ERD) and acting country director Salman Zaheer of WB Dhaka office signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.

The pact was inked under the project titled ‘Revenue Mobilization Program: VAT Improvement Project’ to make the VAT and supplementary tax payable through online which will reduce the cost.
