DHAKA:  A government taskforce has made submission of Tax Identification Number (TIN) and two years’ bank statement mandatory for passengers in getting air ticket for traveling abroad.

The taskforce formed by the government to monitor the recruiting agencies took the decision, official source said.

Taskforce officials said many recruiting agencies arrange visit visa to labourers who face harassment by law enforcers when they get caught abroad. Such a scenario compelled the taskforce to take the decision.

Additional Secretary of Ministry of Expatriates Welfare & Overseas Employment and Taskforce president Asadul Islam told banglanews24.com.bd that a syndicate of the recruiting agencies were sending manpower with visit visa in large number and the step came to ensure that genuine travelers and laboureres don’t face the trouble.

Immigration sources said that over a hundred passengers returned in the last six months from different countries who went with visit visa.

Illegal immigration has a negative impact in sending manpower, a taskforce official said.
