DHAKA: The Securities and Exchange Commission Monday decided to monitor the activities of the market-surveillance committee of the two stock exchanges of the country as a double-check.
The committee was asked to report on how it is monitoring share trade on Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange respectively.
It was also asked to submit report on irregularities if they found any during the surveillance.
The decision came from a meeting of SEC`s market advisory committee.
Anwarul Kabir Bhuyian, Executive Director and also a spokesperson for the SEC, said the watchdog body would monitor the committee`s activities from now on “to increase the transparency and accountability” of the market.
They will have to report market status every week to the SEC, he added.
