DHAKA: Commerce Minister Lt Col (retd) Faruk Khan Wednesday warned those who would be found involved in raising prices of essential commodities during Ramadan through black-marketing and hoarding would be arrested.
“The fake dealers who are selling TCB-imported goods on the open market will also be brought to justice,” the minister said in the note of warning while talking to journalists after a discussion meeting Wednesday.
Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) organized the discussion at a city hotel, on the eve of Ramadan.
Replying to a query, Khan said, “The hoarders and black-marketeers will be arrested to keep the market stable during Ramadan in public interest. Besides, investigation will be conducted against the fake dealers who are selling TCB-imported goods on open market.”
TCB sources said the organization has some 1,819 dealers. Investigation was conducted following an allegation that two of them were engaged in selling out TCB goods on the open market.
