ASHUGANJ: Ashuganj Fertilizer and Chemical Company Limited (AFCCL) on Thursday morning resumed production of urea after five days’ suspension.
Factory sources said mechanical breakdown in the cooling tower on Saturday night forced the suspension of production of 1500 metric tonnes of urea fertilizer, incurring a loss of Tk 1.5 crore daily.
“The cooling tower of the factory had some problems which stalled the operation,” said Md Osman Gony, Managing Director (MD) of the factory.
Local engineers repaired the fault and the production began again, Osman added.
According to the officials of the factory, no crisis occurred during this period as the factory has sufficient fertilizer in store.
The factory was closed for the fourth time in the fiscal year due to mechanical glitch.
