DHAKA: Omera Fuels Limited (formerly Mobil Jamuna Fuels Limited) is to bring a new petroleum oil storage terminal online to reportedly increase the country’s fuel reserve required to run independent power plants.
This will be the largest Public–Private Partnership (PPP) ownership tank terminal in Bangladesh having storage facilities for Furnace Oil with the capacity of 70,000 tonnes at Guptakhal, in East Patenga of Chittagong.
This storage is 63% more than the current combined capacity of three state-owned facilities.
“The terminal is a solution for quick rental power plants that can import and manage its inventory efficiently,” Omera chairman Azam Chowdhury said.
Omera and its sister company MJL Bangladesh are now awaiting permission to use a jetty from Bangladesh Petroleum, but it is hoped commercial operations can begin in September.
