DHAKA: Leading mobile operator of Bangladesh Robi Axiata Ltd announced Ericson Bangladesh Ltd, Nokia Siemens Network Ltd (NSN) and Huawei Technologies as its partners to provide the 3.5G service in the country.
The announcement came from a press conference held at the Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in Dhaka on Monday.
Sources said that these assisting companies would observe the responsibilities of planning, preparing the model, implementation and maintenance of 3.5G network.
With the help of these companies, Robi is set to initiate the 3.5G service in the country by October, 2013 which will help to meet the growing demand of high speed internet connection.
Managing Director, also CEO of Robi Axiata Ltd Michael Kuehner said that Bangladesh will enter into the most advanced telecom market of the world with introduction of 3.5G service.
Speed is not all we are trying to give; providing with quality service is also our target, he added.
Chief Technical Officer of Robi AKM Morshed termed Robi as a user friendly organization.
Chief Financial Officer of Robi Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, executive vice president of Technology Division Somnath Mahalanobis, executive vice president of corporate, regulatory and legal division Mahmudur Rahman and other high ups of Robi, Ericson Bangladesh Ltd and NSN were also present in the conference.
Robi Axiata Ltd bagged 5MHz of 3G spectrum from an auction arranged by BTRC on September 8, 2013. The 3G service will help operators provide their users different services including high speed wireless internet, TV output and video conference.
