DHAKA: Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Suhrab Hossain said there exists huge opportunities to increase bilateral trade and investment between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Addressing the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) on Friday, he said: “We are not only friendly but also brotherly countries.”
He said that there is a great potential for joint venture and investment opportunities in the industrial and agricultural sectors.
In Bangladesh, the government policies were conducive in addition to availability of cheap labour, uninterrupted supply of electricity and gas, he added.
He also said that there was almost least duty for raw material imports and five-year tax holiday to the foreign investors in Bangladesh.
The government was giving importance to the industrial and agricultural sectors as Bangladesh was a growing economy.
He added that the Bangladesh Embassy was ready to lend any support for Pakistani business community for setting up joint ventures in industrial sector in Bangladesh.
Responding to a proposal for collaboration in tourism development, the Bangladesh high commissioner said that the tourism authorities in both the countries could devise ways and highlight areas as there was a rich tourism potential in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
