Team Fabber's AHK Hoonigan, comprising students of Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB), has emerged 1st Runner-up in the Soccer Bot Segment at the national robotics competition Robo Carnival, hosted by Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) from January 19-20, 2023.
Nearly 500 school, college and university students, divided into 125 groups, from around the country took party in the two-day carnival to demonstrate their expertise in developing and building robots. On the same day, the same IUB team placed 4th in the Fury Race segment. There were two other teams from IUB in this segment that was focused on driving radio-controlled robots.
Team leader Md. Mahmudul Kabir Peyal said, 'It is quite difficult to construct this type of soccer playing robot with precision and speed while preserving the correct dimensions and weight."
Dr Mahady Hasan, Interim Dean of IUB's School of Engineering Technology and Sciences and the team's advisor, praised the students saying, "I'm incredibly proud of them. They have worked tirelessly to reach this stage, and their dedication and enthusiasm for robotics have definitely paid off."
