Center for Sustainable Development (CSD), ULAB in collaboration with SAJIDA Foundation conducted an inception workshop for the ENGAGE project on June 12th.
The project, titled "Social Resilience in the Sundarbans Delta: Eliciting Needs-based Grassroots Action through Cross-Group Engagement (ENGAGE)," is a 3-year action research initiative.
The workshop aimed to explore pathways for disaster risk reduction in the Sundarbans Delta and enhance social resilience through interdisciplinary knowledge sharing.
Distinguished guests, including Ms. Corinne Henchoz Pignani from the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh and Mr. Saber Hossain Chowdhury, MP, stressed the importance of coordinated efforts and data-driven policies. Funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, ENGAGE collaborates with prestigious institutions such as Université de Lausanne, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and Sundarban Jana Shramajibi Manch (SJSM), India. Together, they will work towards sustainable development and the well-being of marginalized communities in the Sundarbans Delta.
