The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) has emerged as champions in the Intra IUB Departmental Futsal Fest Season 1 held from June 15-19, 2023 at the IUB Sports Complex.

The Division of Student Activities (DoSA) and the IUB Football Club jointly organized the tournament. A total of 224 players, divided into 32 teams, participated in the competition. Out of the 32 teams, 26 were departmental teams; four teams were formed from among the members of the IUB Football Club; and the rest of the two teams comprised IUB alumni.

In the final, IUB CSE 101 beat IUB Alumni Superstars by five goals to one to clinch the title. They reached the final beating IUBFC Warriors and IUBFC Superstars respectively, with the latter winning the race to the 3rd place.

Muttasim Fuad Shaon from the Department of Media and Communication became the top scorer of the tournament with a total of 12 goals. Fahad Bin Fuad, who played for the champion team, won the Best Goalkeeper Award. Saif Mannan Ratul from the Department of Human Resources Management was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.

After the round of 16 knockout matches, an auction was held in which the teams playing in the quarter-finals got a chance to pick players from the teams that had been eliminated. Before the final match, an exhibition match was held between the female members of the IUB Football Club. A total of 16 female students from different departments played in that match.

Several senior university officials, including Vice Chancellor Tanweer Hasan, PhD, Deans, Heads of Departments, and members of the faculty and administration of IUB, enjoyed the matches.
